The Pagėgiai Frontier District of the State Border Guard Service (SBGS) has strengthened control not only at the border with Latvia, but also in the territorial sea.
The SBGS draws the attention of ship-farers and ship-owners that, according to the Government resolution, access to the Lithuanian exclusive economic zone across the sea border is limited to only crewed vessels of commercial fishing companies. Such vessels are not authorised to carry passengers.
During the quarantine period, restrictions also apply to small recreational craft.
Pursuant to the Government resolution, events and gatherings in open spaces are prohibited.
Within its competence, the SBGS enforces the restrictions on access of recreational craft to the border zone for fishing, recreation and so on, insofar as such access is related to the organisation of recreational activities and gatherings of people on the river of Nemunas, and in the Curonian Lagoon and the territorial sea.
Restrictions do not apply to commercial fishing companies.
Be reminded that illegal crossing of the border may entail criminal liability or administrative proceedings if the violation is due to negligence. Since checks have been reintroduced at the internal borders, the same liability shall apply at the border with Latvia and when crossing the border in the territorial sea.
